Sports Premium Strategy for previous years.
Following the success of the first year we continued with the support of coaches for sporting activities. The support became more focused, developing the skills of groups and teams in each year group promoting the ‘Active Leaders’ at lunchtime.
Additional after school activities are encouraging more pupils to access a range of opportunities. These are: Athletics, Gymnastics, Netball, Tennis, Swimming, Football and Rugby
There are two P.E. co-ordinators in school who ensure all events are offered to pupils and that sport is promoted across the school.
P.E. is part of the whole school development plan. We continue to be part of the Darlington School Sports Partnership through an SLA where we access sports festivals and additional P.E. support. This creates different opportunities and skills for pupils to develop. We have organised a ‘Change for Life club’
The support of the coach for two afternoons each week focused on developing the skills of groups of pupils in each year group and leading a Fundamental Development Programme in Early Years which involved parents to engage pupils in P.E. from their entry into school. Sports coaches continue to be involved in after school clubs and promote the ‘Active Leaders’ at lunchtime.
Parents will be informed when their child is chosen to participate.
Parents of pupils in Reception will be asked to comment on the impact of the Fundamental programme on their child’s development.
We continue to be part of the Darlington School Sports Partnership through an SLA where we access sports festivals and additional P.E. support.
The aim is to:
1. Engage pupils in P.E. and Sport early in their development and enable them to develop fundamental skills.
2. Use a targeted approach to develop specific skills so that all pupils are confident learners.
3. Continue to up-skill our own school staff to make teaching of PE sustainable
